TikTok verification, judged on notability
There is no published follower threshold. What TikTok looks for is evidence that you are a notable, authentic presence outside TikTok as well as on it.
How do you get verified on TikTok?
TikTok grants verification to accounts that are authentic, active, complete and notable, with notability evidenced by coverage in multiple credible news sources that are not paid or promotional. There is no public follower threshold, and verification cannot be purchased from TikTok. Requests are made in the app under Settings and privacy, Account, Verification.
TikTok does not sell verification, and no legitimate route involves paying TikTok. Anyone offering a badge through an "internal contact" is describing either a scam or a compromised employee account.
What TikTok weighs
- Coverage in credible publications that were not paid for
- Verified presence on another major platform under the same name
- Consistent recent posting rather than a dormant account
- A complete profile with a photo, bio and linked accounts
- No community guideline violations in the recent period
- Being the subject of searches and impersonation attempts
How we run a TikTok case
- 1
Eligibility review
Coverage, cross-platform verification, posting consistency and account health, assessed against what TikTok actually acts on.
- 2
Close the gaps
An incomplete profile or an inconsistent name is a routine decline and takes an afternoon to fix.
- 3
Assemble the evidence
Independent coverage and cross-platform references in the form a reviewer can verify quickly.
- 4
Submit
The request goes in through the app with the case prepared behind it.
- 5
Outcome
A screenshot of the badge on the profile is the proof.
The specifics
- Follower threshold
- None published
- Strongest single signal
- Independent press coverage, unpaid
- Helps considerably
- Already verified on another major platform
- Typical timeline
- 2 to 8 weeks including TikTok’s review
What we will not claim
- The platform makes the final decision. We prepare and submit the strongest honest case; nobody outside the platform can grant a badge, and anyone claiming an inside contact is lying to you.
- There is no paid route to a TikTok badge, and we will not pretend to have one.
- An account with no presence outside TikTok is rarely a candidate, whatever its follower count.
