Ripoff Report and the complaint-site problem

Some of these sites have a genuine removal process. One famously does not. Knowing which you are facing changes the entire strategy, and most providers will not tell you.

Can a Ripoff Report be removed?

Ripoff Report has a long-standing policy of not removing reports once published, including reports the author wants deleted, so removal at the source is generally not available. Realistic routes are a court order finding the content defamatory, the site’s paid arbitration programme, or de-indexing the URL where a search engine policy applies. Other complaint sites — PissedConsumer, Complaints Board and similar — do operate removal processes and are more tractable.

Any service promising to remove a Ripoff Report quickly is either describing the site’s own paid programme without saying so, or lying. We will tell you up front when the honest answer is that the listing is not coming down and the work has to be suppression instead.

What determines whether anything is possible

  • Which site it is — policies differ enormously and it is the first question
  • Whether a court has found the content defamatory
  • Whether the post contains personal information about an individual
  • Whether the author is willing to withdraw, where the site honours that
  • Whether the post impersonates someone or is demonstrably fabricated
  • Whether the site charges for removal, which engages Google’s policy

How a complaint-site case runs

  1. 1

Identify the site and its policy

This decides everything. We give you the honest odds for that specific site before you pay for anything.

  2. 2

    Check for a usable ground

Personal information, impersonation, a court finding, or an author willing to withdraw.

  3. 3

    Pursue the real route

The site’s process where one exists, the host or registrar where it does not, the de-index filing where a policy applies.

  4. 4

Say so when it will not work

Where removal is genuinely unavailable we close the item, refund it, and tell you what suppression would involve instead.

  5. 5

    Proof

A dated screenshot showing the result gone.

The specifics

Priced
Per URL, charged only where a route exists
Ripoff Report
Does not remove posts; routes are a court order, arbitration, or de-indexing
Other complaint sites
Most operate a removal process and are considerably more tractable
Typical timeline
2 to 12 weeks, or immediately declined
Counts as delivered
The URL no longer returns for the named query, evidenced by a dated screenshot

What we will not claim

  • We cannot make Ripoff Report delete a report. Nobody can, without a court order or their own paid programme, and we will not pretend otherwise.
  • We will not post rebuttals under false identities, and we will not file a fake counter-complaint to bury a real one.
  • Removal at the source beats de-indexing every time: it clears every search engine at once and it cannot be undone by a recrawl. We try the source first even when de-indexing is the cheaper job for us.
  • Google decides. We build the strongest documented request; nobody outside Google can force a result down, and anyone claiming a contact there is lying to you.
