Are you notable enough for Wikipedia?
A specific test with a specific answer, and roughly half the people who ask us do not pass it. Finding out costs nothing and saves the ones who would have paid for a decline.
What makes someone notable enough for Wikipedia?
Wikipedia’s general notability guideline requires significant coverage in multiple reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Significant means the source addresses the subject directly and in detail, not a passing mention. Independent excludes press releases, company materials, interviews, and paid or sponsored coverage. Specific guidelines add alternative routes — a major award, elected office, or a substantial recognised body of work.
The most common misunderstanding: notability is not achievement. A profitable company with a thousand employees and no independent coverage does not qualify, and an obscure academic with three book chapters written about their work does. The test is whether the world has written about you, not whether it should have.
What counts, and what people wrongly think counts
- Counts: an in-depth profile in an independent publication with editorial oversight
- Counts: a major award from an independent body
- Counts: substantial treatment in a book or academic work
- Does not count: a press release, however many outlets reprinted it
- Does not count: an interview — it is you talking, not a source assessing you
- Does not count: sponsored or paid placement, whatever the outlet
- Does not count: revenue, headcount, funding raised, or follower count
- Does not count: your own website, LinkedIn, or company blog
How the free assessment works
- 1
Send what you have
Links to every piece of coverage, awards, and anything published about you. No account needed and no payment details.
- 2
We score each source
Significant or passing, independent or not, reliable or not. Each one marked, with the reason.
- 3
A verdict in plain words
Pass, borderline, or no. Borderline gets an honest description of the risk rather than an encouraging guess.
- 4
The gap, if there is one
What specifically is missing and roughly how long earning it would take.
- 5
No upsell on a no
If you do not pass, that is the end of the conversation and you have lost nothing.
The specifics
- Cost
- Free. No account, no payment details
- Turnaround
- Typically 2 to 3 working days
- Pass rate
- Roughly half of enquiries do not meet the guideline
- What you get
- A source-by-source assessment and a plain verdict
What we will not claim
- Our assessment is a prediction of how reviewers will read your sources, not a guarantee of their decision.
- We will not tell you that you pass when you do not. A declined draft leaves a deletion record that makes the next attempt harder.
- Notability cannot be bought. Where coverage is the gap, earning it is a service with a timeline measured in months.
