What a rare handle actually costs
On one platform there is a real market with real prices. On the rest, the only honest route is a rights claim — and that is priced as work, not as an asset.
How much does a rare social media username cost?
On Telegram, where usernames are officially tradeable through the Fragment marketplace, short and dictionary-word handles run from the low thousands into six figures depending on demand, with prices visible publicly. On Instagram, X, TikTok and others, buying a username breaches the terms of service, so the honest route is a trademark or impersonation claim, priced as casework and charged only on success.

How you are charged
- When you pay
- Up front, into escrow — the funds are held against the case, not spent
- When we are paid
- Only when an operator posts proof: a live link, a screenshot, or both
- Per item
- An order with several items holds and releases each one separately
- If it fails
- That item is refunded in full. Not a credit, not a retry voucher
- Currency
- Quoted in USD, settled in cryptocurrency
What moves the price
- Length
- Three and four character handles are the top of every market by a wide margin
- Dictionary word or name
- A real word or a common first name commands far more than a coined string
- Platform
- Telegram has a real market with real prices. Elsewhere you are paying for casework, not an asset
- Rights basis
- A registered trademark makes a claim cheap and fast. Common-law use makes it slow
- Current holder
- An empty dormant account is a different case from an active one, which is not a case at all
What we do not charge for
- A rights assessment that comes back negative.
- A lost Fragment auction. The acquisition budget returns in full and there is no fee.
- Any claim against an active, legitimate account. We will not file it at any price.
